Cera has announced the successful delivery of 7.5 million home care visits over the winter period, saving the NHS an estimated £100 million. The figure, which is 2.5 million more than the initial five million visits planned last October, is underpinned by Cera’s AI-powered care model.

Cera Launches AI scheduler technology

A pilot of Cera's fall prediction AI platform demonstrated a 20% reduction in falls in older people

A pilot of Cera's revolutionary fall prediction AI platform led to a 20% reduction in falls. The platform takes information about patients logged by carers on a smartphone app and assesses their risk of having a fall. Based on the information, the visiting carer can then ensure the patient is hydrated and that paths to toilets and the kitchen are clear. Predicting falls using artificial intelligence (AI) could help cut the number of falls elderly people are having in their own homes, leading to a reduction in the number of people being admitted to hospital.

AI Avatars used to train staff in UK first for social care sector

Cera introduces AI Avatars to speed up recruitment of carers to deliver more social care more quickly and support the NHS. Virtual representations of key members of the Cera team are being used in training programmes in a UK first for the social care sector. New recruits get to meet the Avatar, dubbed the Digital Twin, of Cera’s Sarah Craven who will deliver a personal welcome to thousands of new staff. Stroke prevention training will also be delivered by the Avatar to upskill staff on the signs to look out in patients. Cera is expecting the Avatars could train approximately 20,000 new carers a year.

AI breakthrough predicts 83% of falls a week in advance

Cera launches a new AI discovery that predicts people falling at home a week before it happens with 83% accuracy. Cera is rolling out AI that is set to dramatically improve social care and prevent hospitalisations. Falls are the number one reason older people are taken to A&E. Around a third of people aged 65 and over, and around half of people aged 80 and over, fall at least once a year in England. In 2021/22 there were 223,101 hospitalisations as a result of a fall by people over the age of 65. The total annual cost in the UK of fragility fractures, common conditions as a result of a fall, has been estimated at £4.4 billion.

Sky News

The long awaited NHS Long Term Workforce Plan was published on Friday 30 June. Our CEO Dr Ben Maruthappu went on Sky News that morning to respond to this significant reform and to discuss how the future of health care will require 75 percent of services to move out of hospitals and into the home and community. Dr Ben discussed Cera's GPT Care Plans and how we expect them to give carers back approximately two hours a day to deliver care instead of doing admin and how Cera’s use of machine learning can reduce hospitalisations by almost 70 percent.

Care Friends - Cera hires over 1000 Carers using social sharing platform

Cera is the first company to hire over 1000 carers using social sharing platform Care Friends. The platform rewards our Carers with bonuses for sharing our jobs and inviting their friends to join Cera. Employee referrals are one of Cera’s top hire sources, and the platform has been hugely successful for Carers.

Cera delivered more than 1.5million at-home visits to patients nationwide in January 2023

Cera surpassed its January targets by over 50%, delivering more than 1.5 million at-home appointments to patients nationwide, saving the government up to £1 million per day. By delivering digital-first home-healthcare services across the country, Cera has saved the government up to £31 million in hospitalisation fees and care home costs during January 2023.

Cera launches rapid discharge service to support the NHS

Cera launched a rapid discharge service that aims for 80% of patients who can be discharged from hospital to be seen on the same day by its carers or nurses, freeing up beds and easing the NHS’s current ‘bed-blocking’ emergency.

Cera has commenced pilot trials for an AI-powered voice assistant in a first for the UK's care sector, which is expected to reduce A&E visits by up to 50%. This 'Siri for care' is powered by automated phone calls to patients through an empathetic, human-like virtual assistant, which uses machine learning to monitor and prevent health deterioration, offering a more scalable approach to the delivery of care.

DCMS Report

The Department for Digital, Culture, Media & Sport (DCMS) and Paul Scully MP featured Cera as one of 2022’s leading impact tech companies. The report centred around the UK’s exciting and growing tech market with its combined market value of $1 trillion, as the sector retains the top spot in Europe and third in the world.

Cera raised $320m to expand from servicing 15,000 to 100,000 at-home patients each day - freeing up NHS beds and boosting the UK's care capacity by the equivalent of over 50 hospitals.
