Who we’ve worked with
The problem we’re looking to solve
Fixing a broken health and social care sector is complex, fluid and all-encompassing, and we understand that we can’t do it alone.
That’s why, since our inception, we’ve partnered with some of the most prominent, innovative and impactful organisations across a range of sectors.
We understand that collaboration, and the embracement of differing perspectives and skill-sets, is what drives real innovation.
At the very outset of the pandemic, the resourcing and capacity deficit facing the social care sector became more apparent, and more critical, than ever before. We understood that our potential to recruit, train, certify and deploy Professional Carers at speed, via our technology, had a larger role to play than just within our own company.
We partnered with the Department for Health and Social Care to establish Join Social Care, a pioneering recruitment platform that was built for the government at no additional cost, and leveraged for a nationwide social care recruitment campaign.
During the pandemic, through this partnership, we were able to introduce more than 55,000 new candidates into the sector at a time of unprecedented pressure - whilst at the same time putting people back to work during the economic downturn.
As an affirmation of our belief that technology and innovation can solve both the largest, and smallest, problems in healthcare, we partnered with IBM to test the applicability of Lidar sensors in a home care setting.
The sensors, which use lasers pulses to render fine-grained images in varied surroundings, are traditionally used to make high-resolution maps, monitor the speed of cars or help autonomous vehicles navigate. However, we saw the potential for their impact within social care, by leveraging them to map the daily routine of older and vulnerable people in their own homes.
This initiative was rolled out to volunteers nationwide, and enabled us to learn much more about the role this kind of technology can play in monitoring the physical and mental condition of an individual, as well as in responding to emergency cases such as a fall or an accident.
One of the greatest challenges facing the NHS is the continued shortage of beds, combined with unnecessary or avoidable hospitalisations - often among older people. In partnership with Uber, we sought to tackle this issue head on, by providing Uber’s services to older and vulnerable people within the Cera community during hospital discharge.
Likewise, the partnership also enabled speedy and seamless transition for our own Professional Carers between visits to clients homes, as well as transport support to our clients who might otherwise be housebound or reliant on others. This partnership was wholly unique, in its approach to integrating innovative transport solutions into everyday social care.
We’re enormously proud of our role in supporting the NHS, and protecting it’s vital resources. Never more was this apparent, or as important, as during COVID-19 - during which we have delivered more than 10 million in-person healthcare visits during the pandemic.
In doing so, we have lessened the burden on the NHS at a time of immense pressure, by reducing hospitalisations and providing a range of healthcare services in people’s own homes. Throughout the UK, we are partnered with more than 300 Local Authorities and NHS Clinical Commissioning Groups, to provide home care services throughout local communities on behalf of the local NHS.
As a result of the pandemic, we recognised a dual-problem at the very heart of British society - firstly, the chronic lack of resources within the social care sector and, secondly, the record levels of joblessness we saw as a result of the recession. To combat both issues in tandem, we created 10,000 new care jobs throughout the UK, to help bring new talent into care and put people back to work.
Virgin Airways were one of a number of household name companies we partnered with as part of this initiative, by offering airline staff who’d sadly been made redundant an opportunity to retrain and start work in a gainful and rewarding new career. Recognising the transferability of airline staff’s skills, we were able to train, certify and deploy these new team members into frontline roles within a matter of weeks.
Cera has partnered with PillSorted, a personalised pharmacy service, to help older and vulnerable communities have their repeat prescriptions delivered to their door at the touch of a button by their Professional Carer.
The medication solution will be rolled out nationwide with 450,000 medications logged and productivity substantially increased by the end of 2022. The solution works to address the UK’s £800m medication non-adherence issue by removing the threat of medication charts being lost or misplaced and minimising the danger of vulnerable people missing out on vital medication.
